• The Most Debatable Question out there! This is a bold statement, but we often buy the wrong stick for our daughters, because we lack the knowledge.

    1) When you purchase a stick for ayour daughter, be sure the stick has a “modified pocket”- the deeper pocket is illegal for girls once you hit 1st grade.

This is the most highly debated topic in girls youth lacrosse. Let me let you in on a little secret. Before you purchase the $350 stick because it has to be the best, it’s the best for high school and college elite players. So go into the store and explain your daughter’s story (age, height, level of experience) and then ask “what is the best stick for my daughter that is going to make her improve, faster”?

Let’s start with an analogy: Your 7yr old daughter needs a new pair of skis. She is an unbelievable skier, top in her age group.

Would you buy your daughter t? Would you buy your daughter that exact same skis that Lindsay Vonn wears? Probably not. You are looking for the best pair of skis, but you’re shopping in the wrong aisle.go to the “Junior” section of the store. You find skies that are just as good, but that are appropriate for your daughter’s level of excellence, not Lindsay’s.

Stick selection also depends on your daughter’s size and comfort level. It is important that her stick have a “modified pocket”. A deeper pocket is not allowed in town lacrosse starting in the 1st grade and can slow progress down significantly.

Keeping girls in the game is everything. The early years are when confidence is built, habits are formed, and a player decides whether sports feel empowering or stressful. At GLOW, we coach with intention — because one great experience can turn a beginner into a lifelong athlete, and one bad experience can make her walk away too soon. At this age, they don’t fall in love with the sport, they fall in love with the experience they are having. Our job is to keep girls engaged, supported, and excited to come back week after week. 💫

When young girls leave sports too early, those are missed opportunities — for the player who may never discover her potential, and for the coaches who will never get the chance to help her reach it. Girls this young don’t quit because they don’t love the sport… they quit because the environment they were in didn’t love them back.

At GLOW, we approach this epidemic like an easy fix, and we make it about the experience, and the skills follow shortly after that.

    • At GLOW, we make every effort to hold clinics as scheduled, but player safety always comes first.

    • For safety reasons, sessions will be canceled if conditions are unsafe, either on the fields or on the roads.

    • Communication: An email update will be sent if it is clear the roads are too dangerous.

    • If it is a game-time decision, we send families an email 2-3 hours prior to the clinic.

    • We plan in light rain: Clinics will continue as planned in drizzle or light rain.

    • Clinics are cancelled if there is heavy rain, thunder, or lightning:

If a clinic is canceled, we’ll provide details on a make-up class date.

Alternatively, you are welcome to jump into another class that is offered that might work for your schedule. Please contact Caroline with questions: caroline@glow-lacrosse.com

  • GLOW Girls clinics are for 1-4th graders. This is a critical age for development, in lacrosse and starting to develop genuine interests.

For many girls, this is their first entry into organized youth sports — so, in addition to skills, we teach them good habits that make a great teammate: listening to coaches, keep pace and jogging to their assigned drills or stations, strong communication, showing gratitude, and cleaning up when we’re done.

Stickwork & Skill: the groups are divided both by age & skill.

We work on, and improve on basic fundamentals: catching, passing, cradling, ground balls, footwork, dodging, and shooting.

We finish with fun, game-like scenarios and small-sided play so players can apply what they learned in motion and build confidence fast.
